AN INTERVIEW WITH

Peter J.

Duxbury, Ma.

Q.  Where is your home port?
A..  Duxbury, Massachusetts, five minutes from Powder Point Bridge and one of the finest beaches on the east coast.  During the summer you can drive on the beach, have cookouts, kick back and relax and on the fourth of July weekend enjoy a large bonfire and be entertained with live music.   I have had the pleasure to anchor off shore with my wife Anne and two sons on our boat “Island Time” where we have enjoyed the festivities.

Q.  How did you get started in your musical career?
A.  In the early seventies I started out playing folk, bluegrass and country music at coffee houses and private parties.  I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work with Paul Caruso who engineered the production of my CD and met some great musicians who performed on the CD as well.

 Q.  How long have you been in this business?
A.  I started writing songs in the early seventies but it was in the later 80’s that I started to write island style music better known as Buffettesque, troprock and in the early 90’s made my way into the recording studio with Paul Caruso and to date the release of my CD Living on Island Time in April of 2006.

Q.  Who or what influenced your music the most?
A.  James Taylor “Sweet Baby James,” “Mexico,”  Jim Crocie with “Big Jim Walker” and “Leroy Brown” Jerry Jeff Walker “Stoney”, “Mr. BoJangles”, Johnny Cash “I walk the Line” and oh yea, that other feller with “Come Monday,” “Margaritaville” and what would become my favorite, “Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes” Jimmy Buffett.  But if there was any defining moment that influenced me the most, it was when I stepped off the plane on the tiny island of Bonaire.

Q.  What type venue do you prefer?
A.  Anywhere, where they sing along with the songs they know, listen to the ones they haven’t heard and if the song is good, they hang on every word.

Q.  What are your goals for the future?
A. Write more songs, record another album and continue to enjoy this adventure.

Q.  How many CDs do you have to your credit?
A.  I have the one CD to date, “Living on Island Time” and I am currently working on some new material along with some old favorites for a new album to be released later this year.

Q.  Is there anything you would like people to know about you?
A.  I have worn many different hats over the years.  Traveled to some great places.  Met some wonderful people along the way, all of which has left an impression.....and through those years as a singer/songwriter, putting some of those impressions down to words and music.  Just tryin' to live on island time!
